When you became a Christian, God gave you salvation and the hope of eternity in heaven. He also gave you purpose and significance in your life now here on earth. He has given each of us the opportunity to serve others and make a real difference in someone's life. When you serve others in Jesus' name, that's called ministry.

God didn't design ministry for just a few paid church staff members with seminary degrees. At Dayspring, we believe that every member of our church is a minister (1 Peter 2:9). To help you discover your personal ministry we utilize Saddleback Church's SHAPE profile. 

It has been said that your ministry will be most effective and fulfilling when you are using your SPIRITUAL GIFTS and ABILITIES in the area of your HEART's desire in a way that best fits your PERSONALITY and EXPERIENCES.  To help you better understand your unique God-given SHAPE we have provided the following information, assessments, tools, and resources.

Spiritual Gifts :  A spiritual gift is a special ability, given by the Holy Spirit, to every believer to be used to minister to 

others and therefore build up the Body of Christ.  The best way to discover your spiritual gifts is by serving in the church and trying different things.  A list of spiritual gifts and their meanings is available in the download section to the left.  However, sometimes it can be helpful to have some help in starting to discover your spiritual gifts.  Dayspring has partnered with Church Volunteer Central to provide you a basic spiritual gifts assessment.


Heart:  

 God has given each of us unique passions and desires for certain activities, people, and causes.  God uses the things we feel deeply about to show us where we can serve.  The heart is what motivates us and brings great joy to us when we are using our spiritual gifts in these specific areas.  The SHAPE Profile Worksheet lists a number of different activities, people, and causes to help you get started.


Abilities:   

God wants to not only use our spiritual gifts, which we recieve after accepting Jesus as our savior, but He also wants to use the abilities that have been with us since before we became a Christian.  Although you may not feel like you have a lot of abilities, the truth is every person has hundreds of abilities and the trick is to match our abilities with a ministry.  The SHAPE Profile Worksheet will give some general abilities for you to review and identify.


Personality:   

God has wired you in a unique way.  This factor is very important in matchin you the the right ministry.  It's obvious that God has not used a cookie cutter to stamp out people in a process of uniformity.  And there is no "right" or "wrong" personality.  Understanding your personality and who God created you to be helps guide you as you seek what ministry He has for you.  If you have not had the chance to take a personality assessment before the link to the right will lead you through a quick assessment to help you as you discover your SHAPE.


Experiences:

One of the most often overlooked factors in determining the ministry God has for individuals is past experiences, particularly hurst and problems.  Since our greatest life messages come out of our weaknesses, not our strengths, we should pay close attention to what we've learned in our past experiences.  All this combined, will let you discover your SHAPE for ministry.
